AB summary
The Conrad Challenge is an international STEM innovation and entrepreneurship competition hosted by Space Center Houston. It gives students the opportunity to identify real-world problems, develop innovative solutions and turn their ideas into viable projects.
The first phase of the 2026–2027 season, the Activation Stage, began on August 27, 2026 and ends on October 30, 2026. This stage is virtual and has no participation fee.
Teams must consist of 2–5 students aged 13–18. Each team must also have a coach aged 18 or older, who may be a teacher, parent, subject-matter expert or another qualified mentor. Team members do not need to attend the same school or live in the same city or country.
Participants may develop innovations in Aerospace and Aviation, Cyber Technology and Security, Energy and Environment, Health and Nutrition, or the Water Challenge.
Although the Activation Stage is free, later stages of the competition have participation fees. Finalists may be invited to the Innovation Summit at Space Center Houston, which also involves separate participation, travel and accommodation costs.
