AB summary
ASSIST Scholars is a one-year education and cultural exchange program that matches international students with leading U.S. private schools. Azerbaijan is not listed with a dedicated local office, but ASSIST states that eligible students from countries without local representation may apply through its U.S. office under the “All Other Countries” route.
Applications for 2027–2028 are open. ASSIST primarily seeks students currently in the equivalent of U.S. grades 9, 10 or 11 who communicate proficiently in English, have a strong academic record and are active members of their school or community. Placements are mainly for U.S. grades 10 and 11, with limited opportunities for grade 12 or postgraduate positions.
The application package includes the online application, academic transcript, three teacher recommendations, informal photos, a short personal introduction video and a parent or guardian statement. Materials are due by December 1, 2026, and a $35 application fee is required to submit the application.
The Sanderson Scholarship covers school tuition and room and board at a boarding school, or full tuition plus housing with a volunteer host family at a day school. Families still pay an ASSIST program fee: the “All Other Countries” page lists $15,000 for Sanderson and says need-based fee reductions are sometimes available.
The Lindfors Scholarship provides partial tuition and room-and-board support and carries a listed $37,500 program fee for “All Other Countries.” Travel, insurance, visa and certain additional school expenses can remain the family’s responsibility.
